Even more success for Franz
In 1819 Vogl invites Schubert to Kremsmünster, Linz and Steyr, where music was played everywhere. Schubert, full of inspiration, composed the now famous Trout Quintet in A major.
Franz Jäger, a contemporary celebrity, performed his songs in public.
In 1820, his musical comedy The Twin Brothers, composed for Vogl, premiered at the Hofoper. In 1821 Schubert’s first song booklet was printed.
He appeared frequently in private musical soirees and became a celebrity in Vienna’s inner circles.
The result was a small but adequate remuneration which was sufficient to acquire his own home. Schubert could now survive on his meager earnings.
